General objective
Increasing USV's research capacity
The general objective of the project is to increase the research capacity of “Ștefan cel Mare” University of Suceava by investing in CLOUD infrastructure and integrating it into international CLOUD structures and massive data infrastructures, in order to raise the level of scientific competitiveness. The project covered the purchase of equipment, software applications and software licences specific to building and operating the CLOUD and Big Data infrastructure.
Through the proposed investment, the objective contributes to the specific objective of Priority Axis 1, Action 1.1.2, Field of intervention 058, by developing the applicant's R&D&I capacity and infrastructure. Investments in CLOUD and Big Data infrastructure have an essential impact on research and innovation, changing the way scientific research is carried out, creating the premises for new research jobs and encouraging cooperation with other R&D&I institutions, including internationally.
Scientific competitiveness
Developing and diversifying the research-development-innovation infrastructure across all of the University's fields of activity, for which an efficient and secure IT&C infrastructure is essential.
Access to global resources
The CLOUD Resource Centre increases researchers' access to global information resources by interconnecting with European and international systems of leading academic centres and research institutes.

Specific objectives

The project pursued five concrete directions, from purchasing the equipment to data-driven multidisciplinary cooperation.
- Enhancing research, development and innovation capacity in order to increase the scientific competitiveness of “Ștefan cel Mare” University of Suceava, through the acquisition of assets with a high degree of novelty (state-of-the-art equipment);
- Purchase of tangible and intangible fixed assets, i.e. equipment, software applications and software licences specific to a cloud infrastructure;
- Deployment of a cloud infrastructure capable of delivering the following service categories: IaaS, PaaS, SaaS;
- Facilitating researchers' access to international scientific research resources through the developed infrastructure, based on cooperation agreements signed between the University and partner institutions;
- Increasing the level of data-driven multidisciplinary cooperation of “Ștefan cel Mare” University of Suceava.
